Install, set up, and use the Teak app on iPhone and iPad

The Teak app lets you save inspiration on the go, capture voice notes, upload files, and browse your full library on iPhone and iPad, synced in real time with your other devices.

Requirements

• iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or newer
• A Teak account

Install

Download the app from the App Store and sign in with your Teak account.

Sign In

On first launch, choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google, or use Login with Email or Register with Email to finish on the Teak sign-in page.

Saving Content

Open the Add tab to save new content manually:

If you reach the Free plan’s card limit, Teak tells you before saving.

Your Library

Home shows your cards, newest first, with more columns on iPad. Search by words or by when you saved something, such as “last week” or “March 2026”. Teak also searches by meaning, so “cozy reading corner” can find a photo that never says those words. Words like “image”, “favorites”, or a color turn into filters in the search bar; press Return to add one.

You can also type filters the way the web app does, and each becomes a chip:

Put quotes around words that belong together, like text:"total due" or "design system".

Tap the More button (the circled ellipsis) to Select cards, start Revisit, show Favorites, Archive or Trash, narrow by Type or Color, or sort by Newest First, Oldest First or Shuffle (choose Reshuffle for a new order). Save as Smart Folder… saves the current search. The title shows what you’re looking at; choose Clear Filters to go back to everything.

Tap a card to open it. Notes show their formatting, tables and checklists (tap a checkbox to tick it), links show their details (like price, rating or when they were published) and any photos from the post, photos show camera details, and documents show inline when they’re Markdown or code. Tap View Document to read a PDF or other file. Tap a photo to see it full screen: pinch or double-tap to zoom, and swipe down to close it. Tap or drag along a voice memo’s waveform to jump to that point; it shows how far in you are and how long the recording is. Tap a tag to search for it. Text saved from a web page shows From and the site at the bottom; tap it to open the page.

On iPad, a card’s notes, tags, summary, and details sit in a panel beside it.

Links between notes

A note can link to other cards. To add one, edit the note and type [[: a list of your cards appears under the field and narrows as you keep typing. Tap a card to put in the link. Cards in Trash aren’t offered; press Escape on a keyboard, or delete the [[, to close the list. Links show as tappable pills with the linked card’s current title; tap one to open that card. A link to a card that’s in Trash, deleted or not yours shows Missing card. Notes that link to the card you’re viewing are listed under Linked from.

Mark links done

Links you mean to read, watch or buy have a toggle in the toolbar: Mark as read, Mark as watched, Mark as bought and so on, or Mark as done for other links. Done links show a check on their tile. Search is:todo for what’s left.

More like this and Refresh Details

In a card’s More menu (or when you press and hold a card), More Like This shows cards similar to it, and Refresh Details asks Teak to read the card again and update its summary and tags.

Edit a card

Tap the pencil in a card’s toolbar to edit it in one place: rewrite a note or quote, change its notes and tags, or remove tags Teak added. Tap Save when you’re done. Adding the tag secret or hidden hides the card everywhere except a search for that tag; the Edit sheet says so when you add one.

In an open palette, tap the + after its colors to add one: pick it, or type or paste a hex code such as #FF5500. Press and hold a color and choose Remove color to take it out; the message that follows has Undo. Tap a color to copy its hex code. A palette holds up to 12 colors and keeps at least one.

Tags Teak added also show under Suggested by Teak in an open card’s tags: Keep makes one your own tag, and Remove takes it off the card. To rename a link, tap its title at the top and choose Rename. Edit link… in the card’s More menu changes its address, and Teak then refreshes its preview, summary and tags.

Archive

Archive cards you’re done with to keep them out of your library without deleting them. Press and hold a card and choose Archive, or use Archive in a card’s More menu. A message lets you Undo. Open Archive from the More button (on iPad, from the sidebar) to see archived cards and Unarchive them.

Folders and smart folders

On iPhone, the Folders tab lists your folders and smart folders, with each folder’s card count; tap one to see its cards, with its own search and More menu, or tap New Folder to make one. On iPad, folders sit in the sidebar. Press and hold a folder to rename or delete it; a deleted folder can be brought back with Undo, and its cards stay in your library. To file a card, open it and tap Folders in its details, or select cards and choose Add to Folder. A smart folder is a saved search: it shows every card that matches, including cards you save later. Press and hold one and choose Edit search… to change its name or search.

Tags

Open Settings › Tags on iPhone, or Tags in the iPad sidebar, to see every tag with its card count. Press and hold a tag to Rename…, Merge Into… another tag, or Delete… it from every card. Teak shows the progress while it works. Tap a tag to see its cards.

Revisit

Choose Revisit from the More button to go through up to 20 shuffled cards from the current view, one at a time. Swipe left or tap Archive for cards you’re done with, swipe right or tap Keep for the rest. Undo brings back the last archived card. When the deck ends, Teak shows how many you archived and kept.

Trash and selecting cards

Deleting a card moves it to Trash, where it stays for 30 days, and shows Undo. Open Trash from the More button, then tap a card to Restore it or Delete Forever. You can also press and hold a card for the same actions. On iOS 27, swipe a card to favorite, archive or delete it. Empty Trash, in Trash’s toolbar and its More button, deletes every card in Trash after you confirm. That can’t be undone.

To act on several cards, choose Select from the More button (or press and hold a card and choose Select), tap the cards you want, then archive them, add tags, add them to a folder, favorite them, or move them to Trash. In Archive, unarchive them; in Trash, restore them or delete them forever. Tap Done to stop selecting.

Share Sheet (Import from Other Apps)

Use the iOS Share Sheet to save content to Teak without leaving another app:

The share extension shows live status while saving. When a single item is saved, you can add tags (separated by commas) and a note before tapping Save. Tap Add to folders to file what you saved into your folders; with several items, the folders you pick apply to all of them. If you don’t touch anything, it closes by itself. If it asks you to sign in, open Teak, sign in, then retry.

Supported share sources include links, text, images, and files, with the same format support as the web app (see Features), up to 100 MB — except Markdown shares, which become text cards limited to 512 KiB.

Safari Extension

Save the page you’re reading from Safari:

If the extension asks you to sign in, tap Sign In to open Teak, sign in, then try again.

Shortcuts and Siri

Teak’s actions are in the Shortcuts app under Teak, and Siri runs each by name, such as “Search Teak” or “New note in Teak”:

Cards in Trash and hidden cards never show up in Shortcuts. If an action asks you to sign in, open Teak, sign in, then run it again.

Spotlight

Search for a card’s title in Spotlight to find it, with its thumbnail; tap it to open the card in Teak. Teak adds cards as you browse your library and when you open the app, so a card saved on the web shows up after you next open Teak. Cards in Trash, archived cards and hidden cards aren’t in Spotlight, and signing out removes everything Teak added.

Control Center and the Action button

Add New Note or Voice Memo to Control Center or the Lock Screen: open Control Center, tap +, then Add a Control, and search for Teak. Each opens Teak on that screen. On an iPhone with an Action button, choose Controls or Shortcut in Settings → Action Button and pick either one.

Settings

The Settings tab lets you:

• Open Tags to rename, merge, or delete tags (iPhone)
• Switch appearance between Auto (follows iOS system setting), Light, and Dark via Settings → Appearance
• Choose Teak’s language in Settings → Language; it’s saved to your account, so the web and your other devices follow it. See Language
• View your account email, card usage, and plan
• Sign out
• Delete your account

Android

The Android app works like the iPhone app, with these differences:

• Share sheet: if you also installed Teak’s web app from Chrome, the share sheet lists Teak twice. The Android app saves without opening anything, so keep that one. See Install the web app.

• Tablets: on a wide screen, such as a tablet in landscape, the navigation rail lists Home, Favorites, Archive, Trash, Folders, Add and Settings. Favorites, Archive and Trash open as their own pages, so the library leaves out their filter chips. Phones and narrower windows keep the bottom bar, with the Favorites, Archive and Trash chips above your cards.

• Wallpaper colors: turn on Settings → Appearance → Wallpaper colors to color the app from your wallpaper (Material You), in light and dark. It’s off until you turn it on, so Teak’s red stays the default.

• PDFs: View document opens a PDF in the app, page by page. Tap the open-in icon at the top to read it in another app instead.

• Palette colors: + Add color opens a sheet with a hex code field and a row of colors to pick from, instead of the system color picker.

• Photos and voice memos: tap a photo to see it full screen and pinch or double-tap to zoom. Tap or drag along a voice memo’s waveform to jump to that point.

• Offline: when you lose your connection, Home says so and keeps the cards it already loaded. Favorite, archive, mark done, edit, move to Trash or restore a card, or save a new note or link, and the change shows right away and syncs when you’re back online, even if you close the app. Images you’ve already seen stay available. To keep a card and its file for later, open the card and choose More → Keep offline; it then opens, plays and shows its PDF without a connection. Remove offline copy in the same menu frees the space. Opening the app with no connection doesn’t load your library yet, and search, More like this, Refresh details and adding tags or folders still need a connection.
